UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE raiseRED RECEIVES THE 2022 MARATHON PROGRAMMING AWARD
Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized top performing Dance Marathon programs at the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference held in Atlanta, GA July 21-24, 2022.
During their first in-person Dance Marathon with CMN Hospitals, raiseRED was able to use the resources provided by Miracle Network Dance Marathon to improve upon their previous program. Notably, raiseRed moved their ”Why I Dance” segment of the event earlier to allow the participants to engage with their peers, recognize what brought them to the event, and find even more reasons to stay. They had non-stop engaging activities and theme hours such as “Athletics Hour,” “Decades Hour,” “PJ Party,” laser tag, silent disco, and more, to fill the tough night and early morning hours, where it can be hard to stay awake and present. RaiseRED had families share their stories throughout the entire event, a Miracle Network Dance Marathon tradition across the nation, to inspire dancers to keep finding their reasons for participating. The end of event saw time to reset and focus with raiseRED’s first ever Circle of Hope and annual Kid Talent Show, before celebrating their total reveal of $524,000 raised for Norton Children’s Hospital! Amazing job, raiseRED!
Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States and Canada that fundraise for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. These students work tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds one dollar at a time by making the ask to family and friends. Their hard work culminates in a 6–40-hour celebration on their campus or virtually, where participants have the opportunity to rally together as a community for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Students involved in Dance Marathon gain valuable skills in fundraising, peer management, delegation, and philanthropy. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $300 million since 1991.
