HuskerThon at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln is the recipient of the 2022 Organization Management Award. This award recognizes a Dance Marathon organization that demonstrates success in areas such as board and committee structure, retreats, internal communication, and data tracking. This year, HuskerThon created a new mission statement and restructured their program’s Management and Executive Teams around it, resulting in remarkable success. Their new mission is to “cultivate student leaders, foster campus community, and unite to champion kids’ health.” The resulting new executive board framework allows for specificity in cabinets now that Directors’ positions align based on their purpose in the organization, which fostered further collaboration and streamlined communication. They could then focus on enhancing each of these four pillars by organizing new and hybrid events, improving participant communication, developing a Miracle Maker resource folder, and setting a foundation for corporate sponsorship and university-based partnerships.  Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized HuskerThon and other top performing Dance Marathon programs at the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference held in Atlanta, GA July 21-24, 2022.

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States and Canada that fundraise for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. These students work tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds one dollar at a time by making the ask to family and friends. Their hard work culminates in a 6–40-hour celebration on their campus or virtually, where participants have the opportunity to rally together as a community for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Students involved in Dance Marathon gain valuable skills in fundraising, peer management, delegation, and philanthropy. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $300 million since 1991.
