University of Arkansas Dance Marathon Receives 2020 Campaign Activation Award

Arkansas Dance Marathon was awarded the Campaign Activation award at Dance Marathon Leadership Conference 2020. The Campaign Activation award recognizes a Dance Marathon organization that executed an outstanding campaign to increase awareness, participation and engagement.

This year the program chose “For More Futures” to be the message of their yearlong campaign. The goal for this campaign was to unite their campus around a central message. The campaign was released on Child Health Day through their on-campus presence, social media channels, and a campaign video.

Students who registered that day could write their name on a balloon, which filled the Student Union Lawn. They could also pick up a Miracle Bag that included a campaign shirt, a fundraising packet, sticker and hospital band.

In order to engage Team Captains and other campus and community leaders, the program distributed Miracle Boxes. Recipients were encouraged to share their boxes on social media and post why they support the Miracle Network Dance Marathon movement.

This campaign was used throughout the year through the use of the For More Futures logo and hashtag on social media, especially for fundraising and recruitment pushes.

The students wrote: “Thanks to this campaign, we were able to expand our reach to new audiences. We soon found our bracelets on backpacks, our shirts and sweatshirts around campus, our stickers on water bottles, laptops, and around campus. On social media, we watched as more students shared our posts, used For More Futures in their fundraising asks, and an overall increase in engagement. Overall, our campaign helped us attract new and engaged participants and grow our program.”

In 2020, Arkansas Dance Marathon was able to raise $75,221.55 which was a $24,748.70 increase over their 2019 event.

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across North America that fundraise for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since its inception in 1991, Miracle Network Dance Marathon has raised more than $300 million–ensuring that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone.
