UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH RECEIVES 2021 PARTNERSHIP AWARD

“Last year, we introduced Pitt Dance Marathon life to a department on campus: the broadcast team. Since we didn’t know how to go about creating a 12-hour live stream, which can be found in link 1, we decided to ask the experts on our campus for help; the worst they could have said was no. Lucky for us they immediately agreed, and we started a new partnership that will continue for years to come. Without them, we would not have pulled off a successful hybrid livestream Day Of Event. We are planning to continue our partnership along with expanding into different departments for this upcoming year.

We started our combination efforts a little after December so there wasn’t much time to create a 12-hour live broadcast, but they did it for our miracle kids and school. We brought together local celebrities, school sports teams, faculty, the Pittsburgh community, and the student body to raise money and awareness for The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. The broadcast consisted of interviews, Miracle Kids’ talent acts, commercials/sponsorships, highlights throughout the year, and many more cause connections.

The broadcasting department at The University of Pittsburgh incorporates Pitt Dance Marathon into their curriculum. By doing this, the students have an exciting semester-long project to work on and a large-scale assignment to put on their resumes. Of course, they also get to experience the joy that PDM provides to students, families, and Miracle Kids. Without the broadcasting team and the dedicated imaginations of the PDM Staff, Pitt Dance Marathon 2021 would not have been as successful.

By incorporating departments on campus, we are engaging more students and faculty, along with spreading the word about our Dance Marathon. With another large part of campus experiencing the excitement and awareness of The Children’s Miracle Network, we plan to expand to other areas of the school and spread cause connections.

We now have a long-lasting partnership with connections, resources, and an enthusiastic group of individuals who are as passionate about PDM as the staff members.”
