University of Iowa Dance Marathon Receives 2024 Partnership Award
Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized top performing Dance Marathon programs at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Ignite: Peer-to-Peer Leadership Conference held in Kansas City, MO from July 18-21.
Congratulations to the winner of the 2024 Partnership Award, University of Iowa Dance Marathon! UIDM has earned this recognition for their collaborative approach to partnerships working to renew and grow existing partnerships while involving all members of their organization to help identify new opportunities for partnership.
One way they have been able to empower their dancers to take an active role in growing partnerships between the organization and local business is through Community Days. By providing their members with a “Hometown Community Day Guide” each of their participants was encouraged to identify local business within their hometowns throughout Iowa and beyond that could host an event or community day that gave a portion of revenue back to the organization. By providing their team with steps for outreach and templated communications they were ensuring that they were finding as many leads as possible for partnerships. By involving their team and dancers in bringing the mission of UIDM back to their hometowns they were able to further expand the reach of the organization far beyond the scope of their campus community!

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a national movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States that fundraise for their local member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Students involved in a campus’s dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. The year culminates with a final dance marathon event on each campus, where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $350 million since 1991.
