The Cause of Our Hearts Always

UMaine students have a special saying – UMaine is the college of their hearts, always. For more than ten years, students have shown us that Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a cause close to their hearts, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

On Friday night, after a two year hiatus because of the pandemic, Black BearTHON’s celebratory event returned to campus. This year’s theme was special, and it was one that was close to college students’ hearts – PROM! Many of these students, especially the freshman and sophomores, didn’t have a chance to attend their proms with events being cancelled because of COVID and social distancing guidelines.

It was fun to see the students don their finest, make new memories, dance to some favorites like Cotton Eye Joe and the Chicken Day, and come together to raise more than $9,500 for Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center.

On behalf of our patients, their families, and the team who cares for them, we’re so grateful for the support, and we’re looking forward to a successful event again in 2023.
