Recap: MNDM Summer 2020 Successes

While we can’t believe the Fall semester is already here we had a great time rounding up some summer highlights from our Dance Marathon programs across the country. Read below to see some of the creative ways programs have engaged their communities this summer while staying safe & spreading the word that Kids Can’t Wait!

Pitt Dance Marathon – March to Children’s

At the beginning of August, Pitt DM had their first virtual event where the PDM community committed to walking 1.8 miles, the distance from the cathedral of learning, a prominent school building, to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Each individual that participated posted a picture on social media announcing where they were “Hailing to Kids” from, along with challenging a couple of their friends to join them. They had a great response from the community and over 140 people participated. Click here for a video PDM made to recognize and thank folks for participating in their virtual 1.8 Mile challenge! Florida International University  – Virtual 5k

This past summer, Roarthon hosted their first-ever virtual 5k, For The Kids! With over 130 participants and almost $2,500 raised, this event was a huge success and saw great engagement from members across their community! Check out this document for more details on their planning efforts. Questions? Connect with someone from their team!

University of Florida – Every Little Day

This summer DM at UF hosted a virtual engagement and fundraising week themed “Every Little Day”. Each day they encouraged their community to engage with them through fundraising, virtual miracle family meet and greets, and sharing their involvement stories. DM at UF saw great engagement from their community this week and saw even greater fundraising results than in years past. Reach out to DM at UF for more information on their programming.

University of South Carolina – Opening Day

USCDM celebrated opening day with a scavenger hunt across campus and then partied all night with a virtual DJ dance party. Participants were encouraged to go throughout campus and “find the flames” using the GooseChase app. Once completed, they received a promo code for registration. Later that night, they hosted a hybrid virtual/in-person (safely, of course) DJ dance party to celebrate opening day. Reach out to their team for more info on how to host your own scavenger hunt on campus!
