IlliniThon Receives National Dance Marathon Partnership Award
IlliniThon at the University of Illinois was recently awarded the Partnership Award at the Miracle Network Dance Marathon Leadership Conference in July. The Partnership Award recognizes the Miracle Network Dance Marathon organization and their respective partner that demonstrated the most collaborative and mutually beneficial partnership in the past year.
IlliniThon saw an opportunity to partner with the Illinois Alumni Association (IAA) in 2019 and took the opportunity in stride. This partnership was not only for IlliniThon 2019 but for many to come. Partnering with IAA was very helpful in gaining university support and creating awareness for IllinThon and its mission.
In spring 2018 IlliniThon members reached out to IAA and received a $10,000 donation with no restrictions on it could be used. This partnership was not just a donation but mentorship as well. IAA was always there for IlliniThon from donating pizzas to an upcoming event to helping members deal with a crisis, IAA was there to support one of the largest student organizations on the University of Illinois campus.
The IlliniThon president would sit on the IAA board as well, to help improve student engagement across campus. This seat on the board is an amazing opportunity to IllinThon, having a voice on their campus and opening many doors to new relationships. This partnership with IAA will ever be remembered as more than just partnership but a relationship between two organizations supporting each other’s missions and bringing them to life.
