What is Miracle Network Dance Marathon?

A National Movement, with Local Impact:

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a philanthropic movement, uniting students at over 400 colleges, universities and high schools across North America. As a fundraising program for their local CMN Hospital, each campus’s Dance Marathon organization works throughout the year to raise funds and awareness to benefit the hospital treating sick and injured kids right in the school’s local community.

100% of what is raised by the student participants goes directly to their local hospital. Each hospital directs funding to where it is needed the most, which often includes charitable care (to help cover the cost of care for families), equipment, research, treatments, special services (like Child Life programming), and education.

With each Dance Marathon program supporting their local hospital, they are provided opportunities to witness their fundraising in action and meet patients and families who have been impacted by the funds raised for the hospital.

A Leadership Opportunity:

Dance Marathon empowers students to become leaders and make a difference in the world. Involvement provides students with a hands-on service-learning experience that develops a sense of community, bringing students and organizations together from all across campus.

Students involved in a campus’s dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local CMN Hospital. The year culminates with a dance marathon event on each campus where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total.

As this movement comes to campus, a new Dance Marathon at WCU student organization will be formed on campus. Staff from CMN Hospitals are currently recruiting student leaders who will help form the founding executive board for the organization. Executive board members will be responsible for laying the foundation for the organization, recruiting student participants, planning and implementing fundraising and awareness efforts, building relationships with university and community partners, and hosting the inaugural dance marathon event.

All students on campus have the opportunity to be involved in Dance Marathon at WCU throughout the year as well. Once the new organization is created, the newly selected student leaders will be recruiting organizations and individuals to sign-up as fundraisers and begin fundraising by asking family and friends for donations, attending fundraising events, and more.

Our Cause:

Dance Marathon at WCU will all be supporting Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the local CMN Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is the nation’s first hospital devoted exclusively to the care of children. Since our start in 1855, CHOP has been the birthplace for countless breakthroughs and dramatic firsts in pediatric medicine. Built on a foundation of delivering safe, high-quality, family-centered care, the Hospital has fostered medical discoveries and innovations that have improved pediatric healthcare and saved countless children’s lives. Today, families facing complex conditions come to CHOP from all over the world, and our compassionate care and innovation has repeatedly earned CHOP a spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll of the nation’s best children’s hospitals.

By getting involved in Dance Marathon at WCU, you’re joining hundreds of thousands of students across North America who are a part of this generation, fighting for the next and helping to save kids’ lives in your local community.

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across North America that fundraise for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since its inception in 1991, Miracle Network Dance Marathon has raised more than $250 million–ensuring that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone.
