Recognizing the 2024 Dance Marathon Stewardship Award Finalist!
Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized top performing Dance Marathon programs at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Ignite: Peer-to-Peer Leadership Conference held in Kansas City, MO from July 18-21.
Stewardship is the recognition, further engagement, and appreciation of individuals or groups who interact —at any level—with your Dance Marathon organization. The Stewardship Award recognized a Dance Marathon organization that has demonstrated outstanding recognition, engagement, and retention efforts toward a specific audience.

Purdue University Dance Marathon
Purdue University Dance Marathon (PUDM) spent last year focusing on retaining committee members and participants specifically through their Stewardship branch.
PUDM hosted Committee Member Appreciation Day in the spring and Participant Appreciation Week in the fall. Both events were aimed at acknowledging the hard work and dedication our committee members put in all year leading up to the marathon. They hosted various activities, including yard games, tie dying socks and bandanas, friendship bracelet and charm making, and offered a variety of free snacks.
A fall engagement program was centered around a punch card handed out to each committee member. There were eight “punches” on the card, and members could earn a punch for attending special events, booths, or all committee meetings. If members completed all eight punches, they were rewarded with a marathon survival kit at the marathon, which included a fanny pack, water bottle, PUDM pin, and legacy bracelet.
During major fundraising push days and weeks, the internal stewardship team sent out various emails and text messages to members to boost excitement and encourage perseverance. They also recognized the top ten individual fundraisers and the most activated committee.

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a national movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States that fundraise for their local member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Students involved in a campus’s dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. The year culminates with a final dance marathon event on each campus, where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $350 million since 1991.
