THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA DANCE MARATHON RECEIVES THE 2022 PARTICIPANT STEWARDSHIP AWARD

Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized top performing Dance Marathon programs at the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference held in Atlanta, GA July 21-24, 2022.

Congratulations to BroncoThon at University of Central Oklahoma for receiving the 2022 Participant Stewardship Award. This award recognizes the organization that has demonstrated outstanding recognition and retention efforts for individual participants, teams, committee, or leadership team members, or who has made the largest improvements in this area over the past year. BroncoThon made it a priority in 2022 to reflect upon the impact of their participants and reward them for the huge impact they made on the event and the kids treated at their member hospital. To do this, they began highlighting participants through their “Leave a Legacy” campaign, which allowed them to feature participants and team captains on social media platforms highlighting the legacy they have created that will impact the organization for years to come. In addition, it became a priority to recognize participants for fundraising, with the Executive Director texting every participant who received a donation over $50 throughout the entire year and texts to those who were leading their teams in smaller donations. This program also incentivized and highlighted participants for attending events leading up to the Main Event, participating throughout the Dance Marathon, and fundraising year-round. This resulted in greater participation and enthusiasm about the event and many more applications for leadership positions for 2022-2023!

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States and Canada that fundraise for their local member hospital of  Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. These students work tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds one dollar at a time by making the ask to family and friends. Their hard work culminates in a 6–40-hour celebration on their campus or virtually, where participants have the opportunity to rally together as a community for their local member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Students involved in Dance Marathon gain valuable skills in fundraising, peer management, delegation, and philanthropy. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $300 million since 1991.
