University of Iowa Dance Marathon Wins 2023 Love’s Case Study Competition
Miracle Network Dance Marathon recognized top performing Dance Marathon programs at the Dance Marathon Leadership Conference (DMLC) held in St. Louis, MO from August 3-6.
In 2023, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores continued their generous support of Miracle Network Dance Marathon. Through their partnership, Love’s has shown continued dedication to building strong communities, building a better future for families, and building an innovative spirit in Dance Marathon students across the country.
During the recent Dance Marathon Leadership Conference (DMLC), Love’s was the presenting sponsor of the Love’s Case Study Competition. Continuing in 2023, the Love’s Case Study Competition invited the top Dance Marathon programs to identify opportunities for growth within their program and then present a plan for implementation that would increase fundraising for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Student leaders spent the summer months researching, collaborating, and developing their presentations. University of Iowa Dance Marathon (UIDM) was selected as the winner of the 2023 Love’s Case Study Competition. As their prize for winning, UIDM received a $5,000 donation from Love’s to their local member hospital!

At DMLC, student participants presented their case studies to the panel – including subject matter experts from Love’s – to judge their presentations and select a winner. UIDM presented a plan to educate, empower and inspire their members to raise critical funds for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
This experience served as an opportunity for continued growth and development of our student leaders while allowing them to solve real issues facing their programs. It is sure to be a staple of DMLC for many years to come!
Miracle Network Dance Marathon is an international movement, involving over 400 colleges, universities and K-12 schools across the United States and Canada that fundraise for their local member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. These students work tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds one dollar at a time by making the ask to family and friends. Their hard work culminates in a celebration on campus or virtually, where participants can rally together as a community for their local member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Students involved in Dance Marathon gain valuable skills in fundraising, peer management, delegation, and philanthropy. Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have collectively raised more than $350 million since 1991.
