What is Miracle Network Dance Marathon?

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a philanthropic movement uniting students at over 400 colleges, universities and high schools across North America. Students involved in a campus’s dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local CMN Hospital. The year culminates with a dance marathon event on each campus where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total.

As this movement comes to campus, a new Dance Marathon at the CU Boulder student organization will be formed on campus. Staff from CMN Hospitals are currently recruiting student leaders who will help form the founding executive board for the organization. Executive board members will be responsible for laying the foundation for the organization, recruiting student participants, planning and implementing fundraising and awareness efforts, building relationships with university and community partners, and hosting the inaugural dance marathon event.

Dance Marathon provides students with a hands on service-learning experience that develops a sense of community, bringing students and organizations together from all across campus. To learn more about the impact of Dance Marathon, check out this guide.

The efforts of the organization will all be in support of Children’s Hospital Colorado.

In 2017, Children’s Hospital Colorado treated more than 233,000 patients. Children’s Fund gifts are unrestricted donations used to help meet Children’s Colorado’s greatest needs, providing the hospital with greater flexibility to care for young patients. Donations to Children’s Fund help to:

  • Provide resources for parents, family and siblings, so they are better equipped to support patients
  • Treat all children, regardless of ability to pay, because all kids deserve the opportunity for good health
  • Cover the cost of care that government aid programs do not
  • Make groundbreaking strides in research through studies that are leading to more effective treatments and cures for childhood illnesses
  • Support physicians and their patients in rural mountain communities
  • Meet the region’s unique pediatric health needs via a diverse care network of nearly 2,000 pediatric specialists and 5,000+ employees
