What is Miracle Network Dance Marathon?

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a philanthropic movement uniting students at over 400 colleges, universities and high schools across North America. Students involved in a campus’s dance marathon organization spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local CMN Hospital. The year culminates with a dance marathon event on each campus where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total.

As this movement comes to campus, a new Dance Marathon at Brown University student organization will be formed on campus. Staff from CMN Hospitals are currently recruiting student leaders who will help form the founding executive board for the organization. Executive board members will be responsible for laying the foundation for the organization, recruiting student participants, planning and implementing fundraising and awareness efforts, building relationships with university and community partners, and hosting the inaugural dance marathon event.

Dance Marathon provides students with a hands on service-learning experience that develops a sense of community, bringing students and organizations together from all across campus. To learn more about the impact of Dance Marathon, check out this guide.

Our Cause:

The efforts of the organization will all be in support of Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the local CMN Hospital in Providence.

Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the premier pediatric facility in southeastern New England, is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, a teaching hospital for Brown University’s medical school. Named as a top 30 children’s hospital in Parents magazine, Hasbro offers New England’s only established program for in-utero laser surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. It is home to nationally acclaimed programs in child protection, gastroenterology, orthopedics, oncology and other specialties, and is recognized for its Draw-A-Breath asthma program and Injury Prevention Center. Hasbro Children’s Hospital is a member of the Lifespan health system.

By getting involved in Dance Marathon at Brown University, you’re joining hundreds of thousands of students across North America who are a part of this generation, fighting for the next and helping to save kids’ lives in your local community.

Our fundraising will help sick and injured kids at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence. Kids like Kyrie. Kyrie has short bowel syndrome caused by gastroschisis. When he was born, his intestine and part of his stomach were on the outside of his body. This led to shorter small intestines, limiting the fluids and nutrients his body could absorb. For the first two years of his life, Kyrie vomited daily. Surgery then corrected his intestines so that he can now swallow food and live more comfortably. Kyrie will face health challenges for most of his life. This “old soul,” as he is often called, is a fighter. Kyrie’s surgeon — and honorary member of his family — specializes in the treatment of short bowel syndrome and is one of the specialists supported by CMN Hospitals donations. #ForTheKids
