Dance Marathon at UW Raises More Than $21,000 for Seattle Children’s!

Over 220 students at the University of Washington stood For The Kids treated at Seattle Children’s Hospital; raising more than $21,000 on Saturday, January 11 at their annual Dance Marathon event. All the funds raised will go to the Uncompensated Care Fund to make the world-class care at Seattle Children’s Hospital affordable for every kid who needs it!

With the support of our generous community, and partners like DM at UW, Seattle Children’s provided over $146 million of uncompensated care in 2018.

Part of the Miracle Network Dance Marathon movement since 2016, DM at UW has helped sick and injured kids like Makenna receive the best care available. Makenna was diagnosed with an atypical meningioma tumor that was pressing on several vertebrae in her neck and upper back, when she was enjoying her freshman year of high school. Her surgical team made a quick decision to take out the whole tumor so she wouldn’t be permanently paralyzed. Makenna said when the doctors, nurses and caregivers came into her room, they didn’t just focus on what was wrong with her medically. They paid close attention to her interests and got to know her. Their support gave Makenna great courage.

Thanks to all the students, donors, and sponsors who participated in DM at UW to benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital!
