Cal Poly makes dreams into a reality during Miracle Week 2020

By Hannah Klaassen, CPDM Public Relations

Jan. 20-24 Cal Poly spent Miracle Week pushing registration and fundraising for Cal Poly Dance Marathon’s (CPDM) Big Event. The theme was “Dream” which is symbolic of our campus making dreams into a reality by raising funds for the sick and injured kids at Cottage Children’s Medical Center.

On Monday, CPDM kicked off Miracle Week with a visit to Cottage Children’s Medical Center. On Tuesday CPDM focused on “Inspiration” by informing the campus about their movement.  That Wednesday they focused on pushing “Registration” with a free registration promotion, candy goody bags, donuts, and other treats. On the last day, CPDM focused on “Fundraising” with fundraising activities including a kissing booth with dogs and pie in the face in the University Union on campus.

In addition to the themed days, CPDM spread awareness about Miracle Week through posting sticky notes around campus with encouraging messages.  They also spread awareness to local neighborhoods by delivering goody bags with homemade cookies.

By Friday, Jan. 24, CPDM registered over 200 new dancers and 6 new teams were made. They were able to fundraise over $3,000! CPDM is looking forward to hosting the Big Event at Cal Poly on Feb. 22!
